Vieste, Italy What to See, Eat & Do
The shoreline in Vieste captures hearts. Home to the romantic and mythical Legend of Pizzomunno on Pizzomunno Beach.
Perhaps one of the best benefits for budget travelers is finding affordable hotels in Vieste without sacrificing luxury or views.
Before you head to Puglia, just make sure you know how to pronounce Orecchiette! There is a very good chance you’ll end up ordering it since Puglia is where Orecchiette is from.
Although the best restaurant in Vieste does have Orecchiette, it was their Cavatelli that gets my vote! This seafood Cavatelli recipe is so tasty, I’m working on duplicating it, or at least… getting as close as I can.
Foodies in search of what to do in Vieste, will be in for a treat La Massaia. Puglia is also where Caciocavallo Cheese comes from. At La Massaia, the pride in it’s craftsmanship is well deserved.
If you’re nice… you might even get invited into their cheese cave.
Finding free things to do Vieste is easy. Head to Pizzomunno beach at sunset. The reasons will explain themselves when you see pictures of Pizzomunno Beach.
Plus, just wandering the streets is magical in and of itself. It’s a small medieval town, so you will not need a map of Vieste to get around. Go ahead, get lost. When you need to get found, just walk until you see the water and the coastline to orient yourself.
If you have a few dollars to spend, head to the docks and find a boat tour. Here in Vieste, the boats go… right into the Grotto! The colors of the water, shore and the grottos themselves are the true sirens of Vieste.
Vieste you captured our hearts. We look forward to soon stepping foot on your romantic shores again.
Love Piccola & Bello
