This Land Is Your Land In Pictures

No American can claim to know this great country, without a cross-country road trip under their belt. Each region is different with vast shifts in altitude, climate, geography, culture, politics and personality.

Woody Guthrie’s This Land Is Your Land Lyrics Reflect America Today.

I say this after my own first cross-country road trip opened my eyes to my own ignorance at home. In the past, I’ve been braggadocio, preferring travel oversees. This year, I stopped taking America for granted and explored her.

State to state, America and her people are a diverse beautiful land. That diversity those differences, faces and voices is what make us America.

This land is your land

From the Redwood Forest
To the Gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

And I saw above me that endless skyways

I saw below me that golden valley, this land was made for you and me.

Yellowstone River

I roamed and rambled and followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts,
And all around me, a voice was sounding

This land was made for you and me.

There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me
A sign was painted said: Private Property,
But on the back side it didn’t say nothing,
This land was made for you and me.

In wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling;
The Iowa of my Youth

The voice was chanting, as the fog was lifting, This land was made for you and me.

One bright sunny morning in the shadow of the steeple
By the Relief Office I saw my people
As they stood hungry, I stood there wondering if this land was made for you and me.

The Story Behind America’s Alternative Anthem

Woody Guthrie’s This Land Is Your Land.

As Americans it is our responsibility to be proud of this diversity.

There is much division this year. We all find it painful.

Let us remember, this land is made for you AND me. When we forget that, we forget who we are.
