50 Pictures of Verona, Italy the City of Love

In fair Verona, where we lay our scene for this week’s Pictures of Italy gallery over 2,000 years of romance and drama have graced the banks of the River Adige. A UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to a remarkable number of well-preserved antiquity, medieval, and Renaissance monuments, Verona is among the best examples of how Italy just gets it right.

A vibrant combination of fairs, plays, and concerts gives Verona a balance and elegance to the Ancient monuments in the city. If Shakespeare were with us today, I bet he would still place Romeo and Juliet in Verona.

As Juliet so famously says “My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep. The more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.” And so in the bountiful spirit of Juliet’s love I give to thee 50 pictures of fair Verona.
