Welcome to ALOR! I’m Brandy Shearer.

Born in Iowa, raised in Ohio, I found myself, and my husband Italian Photographer & Artist Paolo Ferraris in New York City.

After working for InStyle, HBO, Food Network and eventually becoming the Executive Producer of Discovery Digital Studios, I took a flying leap into the world of consulting in 2013.

As self-employed nomads, Paolo & I launched ALOR (the Art of Living on the Road) in 2014. As our lives evolved so too has ALOR.

In 2016 we set our sights on retiring early and moving to Italy as artists. By 2019 we attained financial freedom, and in April of 2020 we moved to Italy! We’d love to hear from you, let’s connect.

Cambia l’aria! Change the Air. We took our first mini-contactless-as-possible-getaway. Also, first time I’ve used my iPhone camera timer 🤣. I love this photo because for four days, this was us. On our private little balcony. Talk. Laugh. Eat cheese. Drink wine. Look at water.
"I don't know what's going to happen!" Snippet from my interview with @LiveinItalyMag Find out what we're talking about (LINK IN BIO)
#ItalyPicoftheDay Did you know Arno River starts in the slopes of the Tuscan Apennines and flows 150 miles past Arezzo, Florence, Empoli and Pisa before joining the Ligurian Sea.
Our new sink!!!! Feeling posh & fancy because without knowing it, I chose an Italian handmade ceramic sink to grace our bathroom in Bardonecchia. Champagne tastes on a beer budget as my Momma always said. Honestly, I just liked the look of it! That and I think it’s actually wide and tall enough to keep water from splashing all over the counter. One of my pet peeves in the bathroom. Anyone else hate that as much as I do?
What!!! I just googled Italy Pic of the Day and guess who came up first (besting even Vogue.it) ALOR Italy! Now if only more people searched for Italy Pic of the Day we'd be set. 🤣
After spending my career behind-the-scenes telling other people's stories, being on camera does not come easy for me. Neither does talking about myself. My nerves get the better of me. I flush red, speak fast, and generally hope each question is the last. I'd much rather be the one asking than answering questions! Thankfully, I hide my nerves relatively well, or so I've been told. So when Lisa Morales Editor-in-Chief of Live in Italy Magazine reached out to ask if I would sit down for a zoom video interview, I had just enough courage to give it a go.
